How to Wash your Lingerie
When buying lingerie, it's important to look after it. We always advise to follow the care information on the label for the best results. Bras are delicate and pretty but they are responsible for looking after your body and work hard to do so. With the correct care, your bras should last longer.
Hand Washing
We recommend that you hand wash all lingerie, this will make sure your lingerie retains all of it's best qualities including colour, softness and elasticity.
Advice when hand washing:
- Make sure you are not wearing any jewellery that can catch on fabrics.
- Use a mild bleach free detergent, which can prevent any discolouring.
- You can use any shallow sink or bucket for washing.
- Make sure you use cool/slightly warm water. Do not use hot water as this can damage the delicate fabrics causing them to harden and make them scratchy.
- Use your thumbs to gently rub any stubborn areas on the garments.
- Leave the garments to soak for up to an hour, then gently rinse them under cool/warm water.
Machine Mashing
We do not recommend machine-washing your lingerie unless the care label advises. Machine washing can cause garments to shrink, misshape the underwires and discolour fabrics. However, by following our advice, you can make sure your lingerie lasts longer.
Advice for machine washing:
- Use a lingerie bag to put all your bras, knickers and hosiery in, so they don't get tangled up. This is also used for extra protection with the fabrics and colours.
- Do not wash with other garments.
- Use a mild bleach free detergent for delicate washing.
- Use a low temperature setting on the washing machine. Your lingerie should not be in the machine for an excess amount of time, this could destroy the fabrics and cause the underwires to come out.

Drying And Storing Your Lingerie
Drying and storing your lingerie is just as important to make sure it is kept in great condition throughout its use. Leave enough space to store your bras appropriately, if they are stuffed in a drawer they will most likely dent and change shape. It is recommended that moulded/T-shirt bras are stored flat, one behind the other so the cups do not dent, keeping that smooth shape for under clothes.
Advice for drying:
- Never dry lingerie or hosiery on direct heat sources including radiators.
- Leave your lingerie to dry naturally, or use a towel to blot out any excess.
- Do not wring your lingerie or hosiery in case they loose their shape.
- Do not use the tumble dryer, as this can cause the elastic to stretch and misshape.
Nightwear
Caring for your nightwear is generally easier than your bras. For best results, always follow the care instructions on the inside label.
Beachwear
For any beachwear we recommend using a mild bleach-free detergent, which will allow the colours to stay brighter for longer. Make sure you follow the care instructions on the label.
