The History Of Bra Fitting

The system of bra fitting using the tape measure was recognised more than 70 years ago. However, this system was only designed and recognised for cup sizes ranging from A through to D.

Over time with development and ever-changing body shapes and sizes, bras are now measured up to and past a J cup. One of the most common bra sizes is a DD or Double D.

The original measuring technique doesn't work in a modern day sense or application, as it relies on you wearing a bra to perform an accurate measurement. Unfortunately if you are wearing the incorrect size to start with, it is likely your measurement will be inaccurate. This can be due to a number of factors including your original bra accentuating or reducing the protrusion of your breasts. This is usually more common or likely to occur with women wearing a bra size over a D cup.
